Motor to Speed controll: I recommend that you use brushless motor for a plane. (see first post for more info on motors)A brushless motor has three wires comming out of it. Hence you need a brushless speed controll which has three wires. If you get a brushed speed controll, it won't work because brushed ESC has only 2 wores from it. It doesn't matter in what order you connect the wires. After hooking other electronics, your motor doesn't work, try switching any two wires. Another cool thing about brushless motor is that if you switch the outer most wires, the motor will spin backwords.
Receiver: receiver is like the brain of the plane. It controlls all the activities of the plane. I recommend you a get a 6ch receiver and a matching transmitter. on the receiver there are rows of plugs. You may also notice channels from 1-6 on the receiver beside each plug.Thats where you will connect all the other electronics. On most receivers, channel 1 is throttle, in other words you will pluge the three wired small plug from the speed controll to the first channel of the receiver. Make sure you plug it in the right order.Channel 2 you connect theservo that controlls the ailerons which are on the main wing and control the roll of the plane. Channel 3 you connect the servo controll the back wing which controlls the elevators. the elevators controll the pitch of the plane or the up and down. Channel 4 you connect the servo that is connected to the tail wing or rudder. rudder controlls yaw or left, right movement of the plane. Lastly channel 5 and 6 are used for extra stuff on the plane like bomb drop. these two channels will be indicated like switched on the transmitter.
Battery:Lastly you will need to connect a battery. You may notice two wires left on the speed controll. Well thats exactly where you connect the battery. I recommend you buy a lipo battery because it is lighter and lasts longer.
In my next post i will tell how to hook servos to the controll surfaces. please follow!!
